General safety rules
1. All stunts MUST be done on mats.
2. All stunts MUST be done with spotters.
3. No accessories should be worn during stunting. I.e. hair bands, butterfly clips, ear studs/rings, necklaces, rings, watches, spectacles.
4. Keep fingernails short to prevent scratching your house members! (And potentially disfiguring them :O ) Girls to wear tights; tights are for sale from the cheer room at $5 each.
Stunts rules
1. Maximum height limit for stunts = 2 men height
2. All stunts of 2 men height must have 2 side bases. E.g. Elevators, Shoulder sit 2-2-1.
Note: Shoulder stands are banned due to high injury risks as observed during workshops.
3. Dismounting from stunts:
I) Possible dismount methods: Retakes, sweeps, assisted dismount from spotters
II) No popping/tossing allowed
4. Possible stunts allowed:
Thigh stand, torch, teddy bear (at elevator level), shoulder sit, elevator, liberty & hitch (at elevator level), shoulder sit 2-2-1
5. All houses must consult and gain permission from VJ Knights should they wish to try out any stunts that are not listed above or taught during the workshop. Feel free to approach us during our trainings. Alternatively, houses can leave a note on our notice board (on our CCA door) indicating that they wish to try out new stunts. Include names and contact numbers and we will contact them.
Final note
1. Please abide by all rules. VJ Knights has the right to disqualify any house from the competition should we catch any house breaching the rules.
2. Do understand that these rules are set due to safety concerns and the many injuries incurred from previous years. We hope to minimise all possible injuries during this year’s competition.
3. Be responsible; should you feel that your house members cannot perform any (allowed) stunts confidently, remove the stunts. Do not compromise safety.
4. Lastly, be creative and play around with the stunts allowed to create walls. Feel free to approach us for help! Wishing all houses all the best for the competition! :)
Signed,
VJ Knights (Cheerleading Club)
